Someday not so very soon…
Our story takes place long after humanity won their millennia’s long war against the Narciaks. Humanity must come to terms with figuring out how to de-militarize their society, as well as the realization they lost ninety percent of their heritage due to fleeing their home planet. Now, all these years later, Daedalus Corp leads an expedition back to Earth to regain humanity’s lost history which is hidden away in a secret underground bunker formerly dubbed the “Doomsday Vault”, but more commonly known as the “Maze” to the humans of Terra Nova due to the winding passageways of cyberspace. Through merging the minds of scientists, researchers, and historians into the technology, Earth’s past is unveiled for the first time in a thousand years. However, as many explorers tend to do, they searched in a part of the Maze where they shouldn’t have. A malware exploded across the entire server, wiping out any and all who came across it. Those who managed to escape the digital mainframe were never the same again, condemned to madness and insanity! The less fortunate remained trapped and tormented. What made it worse was that the head of the Athens clan, Aegeus Athens, and one third of the triumvirate who controlled Daedalus Corporation, had taken a turn for the worse. He had contracted a virus when he went on planet, one he had managed to fend off for nine years, but is now succumbing to. In a desperate bid to save his sickly father, Aegeus’ first born son, Theseus Athens, spearheaded the mission to go back into the Maze and retrieve the information needed to save his father.
However, before he could achieve that goal, he succumbed to the malware himself and was deemed lost to everyone except for Ariadne Knox, daughter of former Major General Minos Knox, who was also a triumvir of Daedalus Corp. She had been the one who helped create the code to be able to access the Maze in the first place, and had created a second entry point for herself to be able to enter the place she dreamed of, but was banned by her father from officially entering.
Aided by her sister, Phaedra Knox, Ariadne gains access to Daedalus Corps’ server room during the crisis of losing the heir to Athens clan to cyberspace. Ariadne then proceeds to go into the Maze with the intention of saving Theseus, her quasi- boyfriend, protected by a suit from the malware of the Maze.
Ariadne and Theseus must battle against all odds in order to succeed and return home. Theseus’ father is dying, desperately needing the information his son could or could not have. Theseus’ own body is being sustained only by machines while his mind is within the clutches of the Maze, machines which are liable to fail while Project Psyche is on the cusp of being dismantled . Thus the very realm where our two heroes are fighting for their lives could collapse upon them at any moment. That is, if they survive the monstrous guardians protecting the Maze’s secrets and outwit the malware that could infect their minds and render escape impossible.
Will they succumb to the maddening malware of the Maze?
Will Ariadne make it to Theseus in time?
Or will history repeat itself, as it is so often doomed to do, when humans do not learn from it?
